Vijnana Yoga

Vijnana Yoga bases its practice on the desire for inner clarity that comes from personal experience, placing a special focus on cultivating inner listening.

It is a mind-body practice that strives for simplicity while seeking precision in posture and breath through a clear and broad perspective.

The practice I teach is built on three components: quiet sitting, Pranayama (breathing exercises), Yoga postures (Asanas). All of these are practiced while focusing on the seven principles:

relaxing the body, quieting the mind, focusing through intent, rooting, connecting, awareness of breath, and expanding - elongating and widening.

Focusing on these seven principles allows us to listen inward, and from that inner space, to see, understand, and act skillfully in the world.

Another unique aspect of Vijnana Yoga is the focus on the ten Vayus during practice.

Through yoga practice, we cultivate a clear vision and an open heart.

We strive, through a foundational approach of non-attachment and a balanced lifestyle, to bring this clarity into all areas of our lives. Therefore, the practice itself is not enough; it must be done properly, as Patanjali wrote in the Yoga Sutras. In 2003, Orit Sen-Gupta founded Vijnana Yoga.
